Smileright again in no time

by Dental Design, on 9th September 2016 | 0 comments

A dental disaster can be extremely disconcerting and have a hugely negative impact on your life. Your teeth are such an obvious part of your face, if something goes wrong, you’ll want the problem addressed as quickly (and painlessly) as possible. That’s why we offer convenient same day appointments (from just £30) so if you do suffer a tooth themed calamity, you can walk straight into a Smileright practice for fast pain relief and treatment. In fact, one of our practices, Basingstoke, is conveniently located in a Boots store – so when you’re all sorted, you can stock up on top notch toiletries too!

Is it really an emergency?

If something’s gone wrong in the mouth department, how do you know you’re actually suffering from a dental emergency? Any of the following might mean you need a swift Smileright solution:

  • Bleeding from the mouth
  • Severe pain
  • Loose teeth
  • Swelling in the face or mouth
  • Bulges or swelling on your gums

Emergencies of the toothy kind can include a cracked, broken, or completely knocked out tooth, a lost filling, damaged dental restorations or an abscess, which can form within a tooth or on the gum.

So if there’s something seriously wrong, call your nearest Smileright practice without delay. You might need immediate dental treatment from one of our skilled dentists to prevent the problem worsening or stop it causing permanent damage. And remember, even if you aren’t registered with us, you can still book an emergency appointment – we are always more than happy to see new faces (and mouths!).

While you wait…

You shouldn’t have to wait too long to see us but if you do have a mouth related mishap you might want to follow these handy emergency tips to help relieve pain and prevent further damage:

  • It’s a knockout!
Make sure you hold a knocked out tooth by the crown and then rinse with warm water. Either pop it back in its original place or keep it in milk or salt water until we can attempt to return it to its rightful home.
  • Chips with that?
Rinse your mouth with warm water, reduce swelling with a cold compress and stem any bleeding by applying a piece of gauze.
  • Filling out
Stick a piece of sugar free chewing gum where the lost filling used to be so the cavity is protected.
  • Abscess over it
If you suspect you are suffering from an abscess, rinse your mouth with warm, salty water and take over-the-counter pain killers. If you develop a high temperature, severe pain or difficulty breathing, you may have to go to A&E.
  • Crown and out
A detached crown can be put temporarily back in place with some dental cement or toothpaste but please don’t use superglue!

So panic not – if the worst does happen to your teeth – just call Smileright!
